Biography

Matt Wren is the chief technology officer at Allspring Global Investments. He oversees all engineering and technology operations, development, infrastructure, and strategy for the firm.

Matt joined Allspring from BlackRock where he was managing director, global head of investment systems and regional head of technology. In this capacity he was responsible for leading all investment technology for BlackRock and BlackRock’s extensive fintech business. Prior to that Matt held various leadership positions across BlackRock, Barclays Global Investors and Barclays Capital spanning research, alpha generation, portfolio management, trading, compliance, investment operations, and risk management. Matt has extensive global experience having been based at different times in San Francisco, London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Auckland.

Matt earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from The University of Auckland and a master’s degree in business administration from the Bayes Business School.
